Visibility is computed for New York (NY) and Los Angeles (LA); «low» means the eclipse is visible only near the horizon.

Eclipses in astrology
An eclipse amplifies the new or full moon it falls on. Tradition reads solar eclipses as openings and lunar eclipses as endings and culminations. The sign shows the theme; in a personal chart what matters is the house and planets the eclipse touches.

Frequently asked questions
When is the next eclipse?

From New York or Los Angeles in 2026–2027: the total lunar eclipse of 03/03/2026, the total solar eclipse of 08/12/2026, the partial lunar eclipse of 08/28/2026, the penumbral lunar eclipse of 02/20/2027, the penumbral lunar eclipse of 08/17/2027. Visibility elsewhere in the US can differ.
What is the difference between a solar and a lunar eclipse?
A solar eclipse happens at new moon, when the Moon covers the Sun; it is seen only along a narrow path on Earth. A lunar eclipse happens at full moon, when the Moon enters Earth's shadow; it is seen from the whole night side of the planet.
What is eclipse season?
Eclipses come in pairs about two weeks apart, twice a year, when new and full moons fall near the Moon's nodes. Astrologers call the stretch between them eclipse season and traditionally avoid big launches during it.
Is it safe to look at a solar eclipse?
Only through certified solar filters (ISO 12312-2). Regular sunglasses do not protect your eyes. A lunar eclipse is safe to watch with the naked eye.
